Taking the east coast by storm

Well, kind of. I've made it here! Didn't go over the weight limit with my baggage (how that was possible, I honestly do not know). My daddy and I have been doing a little sight-seeing so far. It is SO HOT and HUMID though so we basically get up, walk around all morning and then are so gross that we come back and take siestas until dinner in our wonderful A/C in our hotel room. Yesterday once we got moved in, we looked around a little bit, saw the Natural History Museum etc. We've had some pretty good food since we've been here (Sea Bass and garlic mashed potatoes last night, fiesta chicken salad tonight--though it wasn't on par with the Santa Fe Chicken salad from Beef a Roo). We did a lot of running around today looking for a fed ex kinkos to get all of my security clearance stuff figured out. Hopefully everything is taken care of now and I can still be cleared by next Tuesday when I am supposed to start. So far, the adjustment has been fine. There have been times when it has been really hot and I've been tired and just wanted to be in my bed at home, and the riding the metro for an hour every morning will take some getting used to but that should be a good time to fit all of my reading in that I am always hard pressed to find time for. Tonight we had dinner with Uncle Bobby (one of my parents' good friends from college). He had so much to say about the city, traveling all over the world, legal and financial stuff etc. It actually made me kind of excited to do the whole "young law student/professional living in a big city thing". Maybe having this year kind of "off" will give me a new found focus/ambition for taking on 4 more years of school (including a 1L that is supposedly going to kill me). Anyway, I am so happy that I have this opportunity and though I know I will get homesick soon (probably once my daddy leaves on Thursday), I think having this transition time has really helped me and I'm learning to be more comfortable in the big city and getting more used to the thought of living here (admittedly, it's only been 2 days but hey) Anyhow, time for bed/attempt at sleep with all the snoring... eep). Miss you all very much. Feel free to call or e-mail me any time. I'd love to hear from you.
